These charts have been roughly translated from the original German. This is a hand reference to find out your model and when it was built. In Australia most Lanz Bulldogs were referred to with a letter such as "P" or the letter "N" and so on.Worth noting is the "Q" model is not mentioned; it was built around 1952-54... But using the serial numbers you should be able to find your tractor... happy hunting Don McDouall
Serial and build dates of Lanz Bulldog tractors
Brief history of the K.L bulldog tractor
It was at the end of WW2 that Kelly & Lewis (prewar agents for Lanz Bulldog tractors) started to manufacture a Bulldog tractor; most likely from all the spare parts they had, and of course Lanz in Germany would have been out of action.
So in Victoria they built a foundry and in 1946 made a tractor similar to the Lanz “N” model.By 1948 KL were advertising and were geared up to manufacturing 1000 tractors each year. But it is doubtful if this was ever achieved .
But by 1949 Lanz of Germany had recovered and their tractors were again available from KL as well as the KL bulldog.
But by around 1952 the KL bulldog was being phased out….
Much has been written about this tractor and much of it is useful, but again much Is a myth…. Depends on who is telling the story.
